I renewed my contract with BT for 12 months at an agreed price of £34 a month.
I've just checked my latest bill and its now £40 !!!
How can this be ??
Can the BT representative provide his email please so i can contact him direct about this.
After reading and experiencing the horror that is BT customer service i know its pointless to contact them.
If they can change the price of an agreed 12 month contract then surely i can end the contract and go somewhere else ?0 -
there is a link in the BT company Reps ProfileEx forum ambassador

They can change the prices (you aren't in a "fixed price" contract).
They did say we could leave without penalty if unhappy with the increases when announcing them.
You may be too late now.

today i tried to report a problem with my bt infinity and arrange a house move, firstly i was on hold for 45 mins then got connected to india where i was told the problem was because of the exceptional weather in uk,( rain and wind in uk in winter shocker!!), after this i tried to use the bt website to arrange a house move, as i didnt want to be on hold for another hour as i was trying to pack my house up, but as my 70 meg speed was bearly 2 the website was usless and i called the home move number on the screen, after another 45 min on hold i was told it was a different department and was swiftly moved on to another department mid sentence and promptly put on hold for another 20 mins, then i was informed because i am moving to a non infinity area i had to be put through to another department again mid sentence, another 30 mins on hold followed, finally getting the correct department i was informed that because i was down grading i would have to enter another contract i questioned why and was told because i was getting free connection i had to enter a new contract even tho i would only be at my new address would be no more than 6 months, during this conversation i was informed that if the speed dropped below 7 mbps i could leave for free, upon stating that i would be likely to leave for free because the area is not great for broadband speed the operator at the other end hung up thus rendering 3 hours of my life a complete waste of time with no resolution to any problems, i am totally disgusted with how the call was terminated, i was not abusive at all altho i was annoyed at how long it was all taking.
i need some advice how i can get rid of bt asap i want nothing to do with them again and will be telling my friends and family to ditch them asap, i thought my time in the army was riddled with red tape but this is pathectic. DO NOT GO NEAR BT0 -

I have just rung up BT to cancel my contract & have been absolutely shocked at what they want to charge me!
I am currently in a contract until November & I can not move the services as where I am moving there is already a BT contract in place.
I expected that I would have to pay a fee but, nothing like I have been quoted!
They want to charge £274! It would be cheaper if I just let the contract run till the end. Total cost if I let the contract run would be £137. But I cannot do so as that would then tie the lines up for anyone else who moved in.
I am flabbergasted at the price & will probably have to pay up as I can see no way round it.0 -
There won't always be a BT contract in place when you move will there? (If there is, who will be paying for it?)
Don't they mean there is currently a BT contract running there?
Can't you tell the current bill payer at the new address you won't be taking over the contract there?0
