I'm one of the stupid ones then ..I'm tied to school holidays and have paid just over £4k (2 adults and 2 kiddies) for flights with VA man to mco for the last 2 years.

If I wasn't bothered about the direct angle I would have gone for it!

For a saving in excess of 2k it might be worth considering the indirect approach. We were tied to the school holidays, as the kids were at important stages of their education but found some really cheap flights to Tampa, via New York, they were about £400p,p, cheaper than non stop to Orlando and the stopover broke the journey up nicely. Virgin flights from Heathrow to JFK are considered to be "nicer" than the Gatwick-Orlando ones, certainly seemed more like the old Virgin, in our experience. The queue at immigration was as bad, if not worse than previously experienced in Orlando. The 20r 3 hour layover was an opportunity to top up with carbs and nicotine as well explore the sights and sounds of JFK. Then a shortish hop down to Tampa and straight out into the Florida sunshine.

I appreciate it might not be for everyone but as I said for £2k, it covered the car hire and villa costs and some more but did add 4 or 5 hours onto the total journey time, so about £250p.h. return.

    Thats not very moneysaving!
And as Pomeyrich posted he saved £2000 surely that is not to be sniffed at

£500 for summer holiday flights is a good price for those doubting it. Downside is they are indirect but you pays your money you takes your chance

Why would you say you can go for £350 or so at a different time of year, of course you can!!???[/QUOTE]

Not sure if that was aimed at me? I posted about getting a deal with Delta for next March to Norwich for £380, so was agreeing with the Op that Delta had some great fares at the moment.

BUT Can I take you up on your "of course you can " quote and can show me a link to some £350 flights to Vegas if your post was aimed at me!

I do realise this thread is about Orlando so i have no idea if there are £350 flights available to there...are there?

My apologies if I have misread it - I took it to mean people were saying they could get flights at a differemt time of year for less than the £500 mentioned, hence my "of course you can"

skyscanner will provide your links to prices if you search for whole year rather than specific dates. Quick search shows Lon to orlando in November for under £300 with Virgin so definitely cheap flights available out of season

Search on the diBB forum for people talking about the Delta misprice deal that is mentioned here - many have taken in up

I didn't say it was moneysaving...we like VA and like direct flights so am prepared to pay what it costs.
We usually fly back upper class which is anything but moneysaving lol

may think about it for future trips..am already booked for Dec, June and July next year though with VA direct lol!

  • Just for info - this is an offer that is available throughout the whole of next year. Summer just represents the best saving respectively since the fares are typically £400 less per person with this deal.

Flights in May for example are typically around the £600 mark ordinarily whereas these Delta flights are around £440 on some dates - so still a saving.

If you're not really one who likes to fly indirect then you could consider flying direct to Miami or Atlanta. Miami is approximately 4 hours driving time to Orlando whereas Atlanta is 7 hours.

It could be an opportunity for those who have been to Orlando before - a chance to visit the Florida Keys, Miami, The Gulf Coast. You may have dreamt of a Caribbean cruise - many of which depart from Fort Lauderdale (20 miles from Miami)

This offer is also not exclusive to Florida - if anyone is fond of West coast - Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas etc... then there are some deals for these locations too.

This has superseded my expectations - it is an error loaded by Delta so I thought they'd have removed it by now - it is still there though! No telling when this will no longer be available - 1 hour? 1 day? 1 week? but certainly a sense of urgency around this offer I'm afraid.

    Hope this helps...

Atlanta to Orlando is a long drive, true it says 7 hours but in reality its 8 to 9 with stops and makes a long day. Also dont forget to factor in more expensive car hire, typical rates are higher in Atlanta than orlando

I'm not being funny guys but I have been watching this thread with interest and I fail to see any bargains on Delta, unless you call £800 -£900 a bargain !

What am I doing wrong ?

Have been looking for 14th July 2012 onwards for a fortnight until school holidays end.

    From Manchester, cant find anything.
  • It's available for under £500 on the 27th July from Manchester to Orlando.

It might not be available on the website, but it's definitely still there.
