Total Hair Nightmare!!!!

Ah thank you, i am so pleased i posted here - i thought there would be more easily accesible hair forums around but there dont seem to be any (that are busy/looked at anyway).
So I spoke to the hairdresser today and she said she's been worrying about it too - and she said when I go in tomorrow she's going to do a treatment on it that she normally charges £50 for (whats it called replace all hair with a wig or something - jeez who'd pay that!!) so hopefully that will improve the condition.
She said she is going to take a couple of strands from the hair at the bottom/front that isnt too damaged and take hair from the crown which is the worst, and take it to Lloreal with her on Monday where she's training and see if they can do tests on it to work out what went wrong.
She's offered for me to go back every week and have treatments which is the least she can offer really, if it sorts my hair out and i get some free blow drys worth £30 then i cant complain really, i just hope it helps.
If in the end my hair is still !!!!!!ed and i have to have it cut off then obviously i will take it further as that was not what i went in for, would i have a case for a claim then?
I hope it sorts itself out tomorrow - the condtion already improved slightly after last nights wash, it was just really tacky like there was something still in it like oil - i bet that oil just did my hair no favours! Wont be using that again.
You've all been so helpful - nice to have people to talk to about these probs hey, especially as my other half got the hump with me last night going on about it and said 'its all he's heard for 2 days' well sor-ry!! You know what women are like with their hair!
Thanks guys x0 -
It it helps at all... my friend managed to burn her hair with straighteners on wet hair (sigh..), and it was very frizzy and dry in parts. I spoke to my hairdresser about it and she said that conditioners for afro caribbean hair was no good, and recommended a pot of Redken hair mask. She said to wash hair, condition, rinse out, then put this on and leave it in. So cos she's my bestest friend I bought it for her (£20 ouch!).
She was thrilled with the results, says her hair has never been as nice!0 -
Ooh thank you what's it called! X0

You know, I think you're actually getting a very good response from the salon, and I would be inclined to accept their attempts to make it better as good enough. She seems to be very keen to deal with the problem, which is a rare thing to happen.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Thanks for your reply.
If this was somewhere like LA or NY - no way would they accept what's happened to my hair they would kick up the biggest stink!! Why are we such pushovers? When it comes down to it I've paid for a service and I have not received what I paid for - they should be bending over backwards to sort my hair out- which they are - I shouldn't be grateful they are fixing the problem! I am though, because it saves me taking it further - my hair isn't just a bit dry - it's literally like hay, after a £50 treatment yesterday it's still no better. They've invited me back next week for another, but I don't hold out much hope.0 -
I can't help but feel despite the fact the hair dresser is doing the right thing honerable thing, op will be back next month asking for compensation nontheless.
Yes if its the hair dressers fault they should be bending over backwards, you may not need to feel like you have to be grateful -- but at the very least you should be thankful, in that the hairdresser is being honourable and respectable in the way she has dealt with the problem.
If you hang around the board you will see a lot of companies are not as reputable so despite the fact you have a right to it being rectified, you should be pleased (I say pleased, not grateful) they are not making it difficult for you because the alternative is lengthy, time consuming and expensive.
I don't see how anybody is being pushed over.0 -
OP, I found this on a forum called "nightmatehair.com". Thought it might make you feel a bit better.
Too Many Chemical Treatments
now, before i start let me just state that i am one to cry even when i get my hair trimmed. last year in october i died my hair blue black, my hair was always a blonde colour, but i had lots of dark red in it. after the blue black faded to purple i died it black and continued to die it black until xmas. my uncle paid for me to get my hair a lighter brown, so they colour stripped it and died it brown. a few months later i started dying it a cherry black until recently. i wanted to go a platnium blonde, so i bought hair colour remover and garnier bleach about a month and a half ago. i used the colour remover and the bleach and it got like, a light orange. so the next morning i went to the hair dresser and she bleached my hair TWICE and then put a toner on it, my hair still remained a lard yellow colour. i cried, so i had the lady die it a brown, but my scalp was so irritated i was bawling for her to wash it out so it got like a light redish brown. a few days later, i bought a packet of bleach at sallys and 20 vol. peroxide and bleeched it twice. it got a light redish orange again. so i went to the hairdresser and she lightened it up a little bit then put on a toner and it got like a strawberry blonde.
i had it that colour for a little while then i bleeched it again with 40 vol. peroxide. my roots remaind a white colour but the ends were a pinkish orange colour. so i went to the hairdresser AGAIN and they put a toner on it, so it was again a strawberry blonde. the hairdresser told me my hair was like mush, so i bought redken protein stuff,so i went to the hair salon up the road and asked her what kind of condition my hair was in to see if i could bleech it again and she was shocked at how good it was in, so later on.. i bought this bleach kit at hot topic and put a ton of highlites in my hair. it got great, the blonde got the blonde i wanted it to but since it was only highlites there was still some orange in it.
TWO DAYS LATER i bought the same kit but bleeched my whole head, and this is when it started to fall out. it was coming out in clumps and for 5 days it just kept falling out. i hacked it all off, and still if i were to tug on the ends at it they would break off. i went to ULTA and got an emergencee treatment done and the lady said my best bet was to chop it all off in a boy cut, because my hair was in little curls, it was terrible. so i came home and hacked it off more as i was crying. i kept conditioning it like crazy and used the emergencee everyday for about a week and it just got better and better each day. it still falls out some here and their but NOTHING like before, but now im stuck with this short hair style where some parts are only an inch long.
the good news is, my hair is WHITE. but it was not worth it since my hair was down to the middle of my back and is now to my neck and some places are so short. im taking viatmins daily and i can see the new growth in already. but if anyone has any suggestions to anything in my story, with damaged hair, or hair growth.. please let me know. "How about never ever putting it through all those chemical treatments again? That's the only way it will grow back healthy. That's quite a story. Holy cow. You are lucky you even have hair on your head at this point. I guess you had to learn the hard way. I'm very sorry for what happened but I hope you do understand now that bleach is serious stuff. And that you can't color a million times and expect it to turn out nice. Hair can only take so many chemical treatments before it completely fries and breaks off. Believe me, the cut was the best thing you could have done. Now you can start over. Please stay away from the color for awhile! "
"Holy Hell!!! Step away from the Hair Coloring products!!! Damn it's a miracle your not totally bald! "
"I totally concur w/ the comments of everyone above. I had severe chemical damage from bleach too. You're lucky you didn't damage your hair folicles for life! FYI- nobodys hair can take that much processing. Next time, if there is one, don't re-process hair, pick a color and stick to it. Once your hair cuticle has been processed it will get weaker and weaker everytime. Only do your roots. Stick to one color. While your hair is growing out, try to decide what you want to wear for a really really long time.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Arcon I never said I wasnt pleased with what they are doing. It's the least they can do really, yes she is respecting the fact that my hairs a mess but doesn't help me when I'm sitting here with hair crunchier than hay, does it? I'm still annoyed and want it sorted now; I purposely did not chemically treat my hair for 3 months prior to this also.
If they sort it out then no, I won't be going back for a refund also.
Thanks Mildred x0 -
Just thought i would update you all on what happened in the end.
I went to the salon 2 more times after the initial appointment and they done deep reconstructing treatments on my hair - one protein one and a moisturising one.
They took 2 samples of my hair and tested them - obviously nothing constructive came of doing this as i am sure if it was their fault that they did the rinse on my hair she wouldnt have said anyway!
In the end - i have saved it myself by using regular deep conditioning treatments. I have a patch of broken hair at the back of my head which i am quite upset about but i am just glad that i dont have to have it all cut off!
Dont think i will be going back their - their attitude wasnt great, the girl who took over to blow dry my hair after the treatments wasnt happy about doing it as she had taken over the 'correction' job which they dont get paid to do - she was complaining it wasnt her fault and that she wont get paid her commision for blow drying my hair and she was losing out on paying clients in that time! i felt a bit awkward - especially when i suggested that my hair obviously needed a trim (i had had it cut the week before all this happened so it didnt need it at first!) and then she tried to charge me a tenner which i said i wasnt paying, i was sorry but she should really take it up with her boss if she wanted paying for it - my hair only needed trimming because of the damage they'd done.
So yeah. I think its just time to cut ties and find a new hairdresser!0 -
It's entirely up to you if you want to continue dying your hair in the future, but I strongly suggest that you don't. Give it a rest.
I've had my share of hair salon nightmares in the past, and the best thing I ever did was to accept my natural hair colour and grow it back. Accepting one's natural hair texture is also important. You might want to consider stopping trying to make it straight if it's curly, or curly if it's straight, as all those things involve scorching the hair at high temperatures using heated appliances.
If you give up the heat (straighteners, curlers, hair driers) and chemicals (dye and styling products containing alcohol) within a few years the damage will have grown out and you will have shiny, healthy hair again. Even if you don't want to do that in the long term, in the short term you should definitely avoid doing anything damaging to your hair, because it sounds like it's been through a lot.
I reccomend https://www.longhaircommunity.com or https://www.untamedtresses.com for great tips on how to nurse your hair back to health!0
