Solar PV feed in tariff questions

Hi,

I'm looking into getting solar PV installed at my house, the financial and technical side looks fairly sound, but I have a couple of questions that I can't find the answer to.

Can anyone help, or point me in the right direction?

1) If/when I sell the house, does the feed-in tariff transfer to the new owner? Is this automatic, or do I have any option to retain the income from the solar PV feed-in tariff?

2) How are upgrades to existing systems handled in the rules? e.g. I have no solar PV now. I install a basic 1 kW system before 31st March 2012, so I'm entitled to the current rate of FIT for 25 years on the 1 kW system. I subsequently upgrade to a 2.5 kW system. What happens to the FIT rate I'm entitled to if I upgrade a) before 31st March 2012, or b) after 31st March 2012?

Any answers welcome,
thanks.

  • if you sell your house the fit payment will not automaticaly be transfered to the new owners you will have to sign it over to them. but only if you want to
as for retaining the income from the fits you will need to send in the meter readings, how will you do this if its not your house.
what if they take down the panels? you will not get paid.
it will be a mine field if you want to keep the money.

on point 2 i think you will probably get the fit for what year it is installed ie: install a basic 1 kW system before 31st March 2012 and get the current fit rate
upgrade after this date then the upgrade will be at the new rate i should imagine.

O.K. so are you saying it is definitely possible to assign the FIT payements to someone else when I sell the house, i.e. it becomes a selling point, as the house comes with an income? Like selling a toll bridge?

On the second thing, about how the rate would change on an upgrade, does anyone know for sure, is it possible to see the actual legislation anywhere? Even better, has anyone done it?

yes you can let someone else claim the fit just like the rent a roof companys do

they claim the fit and its not there house.

it tells you all about it in your fit package
what to do if you sell your house.

re your 2nd point ring the fit team and they will tell you what will happen reguards changes to your installation
