Problem with latest Spybot update

Just downloaded the latest update for Spybot, and it hangs at coolWWWSearch.HomeSearch.

Seems I'm not alone....Spybot forum

Not read all the posts yet or tried anything.

Anybody here had a problem?

    Not had a problem so far with latest updates.

    It would seem the problem is with AVG. I turned off the Resident shield in AVG and Spybot scanned fine.

    I'm assuming that's just updating, I think the OP meant it hangs while scanning after the latest updates installed. Not had any failed checksums in a while but used to happen all the time with just about every server.

    If you read through the Spybot Forum, it mentions replacing the advcheck.dll file with the newer version (1.2.1.0) that can be downloaded.

    This resolved the problem of it hanging on the coolwebsearch issue.

    Total scan time on my system was 8 minutes.

    I've certainly noticed that with recent updates it seems to take much longer to perform a full scan. For me up from around 5 mins to about 9 mins.
