Thanks. I hadn't had any replies so went back to store and they just gave me the £1.47 refund. Shame I didn't know about the £2 giftcard! Guess it's too late now but thanks everyone x

No, don't give up. Email them querying why their staff didn't do their job properly and give you the £2 gift card that you were entitled to.

This happened to me before: I was overcharged and when I went to Customer Services and requested the gift card, I was told that they didn't do this any more: total garbage of course. After I emailed, they requested my postal address and sent me the gift card I should've received in the first place...
  • So glad I saw this link... I m back to Asda tomo for my 34p overcharge on bread and my giftcard! thanks

I was overcharged by almost two pounds so I went to customer service and asked her to check it. She said 'oh I'll give you a refund' so I said 'do you still get the gift card when asda has overcharged' and she hesitated and said 'er, well, not always - it depends' and then turned away to the till, but when she gave me my refund she also gave me a gift card'

I think that they will often try not to give the giftcard.

A particular CS person in my local ASDA has told me downright lies about gift cards on a couple of occasions.

You would think the money came out of her wages... :p

Oh yes! I hate how the onus is on you to check that they havent made a mistake with the bill. You check it, they refund you, but what about all the times you haven't checked it. I had three overcharges on one bill once. I think they should offer the two quid card for every overcharge without being asked. It's compensation for them getting it wrong and taking money from you that they shouldn't have taken.
:hello:  please play nicely children !

the thing which pees me off is if you use the self scan, they claim its your fault to not have checked the prices. hubby was once overcharged on a reduced hot chicken, but cos he used the self scan they tried getting out of it.

She asked a colleague and guess what I got it... Good job I went to spend it straight away they had nt activated properly. Thanks again OP
  • Hi,
I am always getting overcharged at Asda. It makes me wonder how much money they make from this, it must be hundreds of thousands if not millions. So I don't ever feel guilty about the £2 voucher, although on occasions the customer service staff make me feel as if I'm doing something wrong!! What I do is I save up all the vouchers then just before my hols I buy tshirts/shorts/suncream etc. Last time I had over £50 to spend. Some people remark that it works the other way and you get undercharged - well in my experience this happens very rarely in comparison to overcharging. I also keep all my receipts showing the overcharge. I'm just one person, so it must happen to everyone!
  • I wasn't aware of the £2 gift card, I was overcharged last week for a stapler of all things! It was reduced to 25p in the sale but it scanned through at £1 and I got the difference back. I think I will email and let them know I didn't get my card. I'm regularly overcharged in Asda, and Morrisons for that matter. So many people don't bother to check their receipts though I guess.
  • I dont shop in asda that often but personaly havent had a problem, once however I was 30p short of a £50+ pound shop and said to leave something to take it under what i had, they done a 'smiley' voucher for the 30p, do they still do this ?

I usually now add up what im buying on my phone so I know what it should add up to be before I get to the checkout so if wildly different will know something has went wrong.
