New Line Needed?

Options
We're moving house next week, and just called BT to change over our phone line and broadband. They told me no line is installed, and so we need an engineer visit at a cost of £130!!

Just had a look at PlusNet, who tell me that there is a phone line active, and won't need a engineer visit! How can I find out who is right?? The previous tennant never used the landline, and can't get hold of the landlord to ask them.

Interesting considering that Plusnet is owned by BT, and BT Openreach would commission the line whoever you went with.

    I'd give plusnet a call.

The Price quoted by BT is the MAXIMUM, nothing more. It does NOT mean that is what they will charge. If a working line exists, the cost will be considerably less.
