Ok, I'm being picky but still:
I sold a large(ish) bundle of childrens clothes - Charged £10 postage (It was £9 something at post office, plus packaging so didnt exaggerate postage) it's went for undr £15 - Wasnt cheap names, debenhams, mini moden, pumpkin patch, gap etc
All clothes was in great condition - washed and ironed - no marks, no missing buttons etc (DD looks after her clothes! except shoes, she ruins those lol) and feedback that was left just says "resonable condition"
Now - buyer didnt pay straight away, I sent them emails to say when item was being posted and then again when id got the tracking ID.
Buyer hasnt contacted me to say there was a problem.
Stars have been knocked down for P&P and dispatch time (I had put in listing i was away and couldnt post until i was back - put earliest postage would be XX and emailed buyer when i was back to say i was posting them the following day!)
Is it worth contacting buyer to see exactly what else i could have done - and esp if there was a problem with clothes - or just leave it?
(Can you tell i've not had "bad" feedback before lol)

The slight flaw on your side was to list items with an end time when you weren't around and posted later.
(Not that we can always see into the future, for heaven's sake)
Buyers feel they've bought the items they've clicked 'commit to buy', forgetting that it'll only come after they've paid!
But this buyer thought the postage was too high as well so you just can't win with some people.
Take a deep breath and move on, you've done everything you could and more.:)

While some people might be happy with this, the majority of eBay buyers aren't, and they have the right to express disappointment. If you can't post right away it's also a bit unreasonable to mention that the buyer didn't pay right away. You need to be able to reduce the discrepancy here - one of my pet peeves is sellers who demand payment within a very short time but then post at their leisure. It doesn't seem fair - if I get paid to do something, then I do it as soon as I get paid or as soon as possible so I can be paid promptly. Why your buyer should be happy with that is not clear to me; I wouldn't have bid, but they do get asked how quickly you dispatched so bearing this in mind, I think you should accept some responsibility for this arrangement.
Next time only list something if you are going to be around at end of auction. You can't plan for illness, but if you can plan enough to put that in the listing, you can plan enough to sell it at the time when you will be around to dispatch it promptly."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

to clarify (sorry earlier post was done at end of lunch so couldnt check dates lol)
Auction ended on the Friday evening at 19:57 - I came back from Holiday on the Sunday early evening - I posted the items first thing Tuesday morning. I'd put a dispatch time of 4 working days so was within time limit. I know the buyer paid within the time scale - That wasnt the issue, they paid on the Sunday morning, was just pointing it out - It's not as if they paid straight away and expected delivery straight away IYSWIM (I know some people pay late in evening and expect delivery next day lol) Parcel was with them Wednesday morning. I'd put in listing that i would be away until the Sunday and that i would post within 4 working days (and also put it in the drop down bit on ebay dispatch time)
Postage - I've check reciepts, It was £9.72 (weighed 4kg) and i'd rounded it up to £10 - wasnt just checked in a bin bag, was in bubble wrap (ok not essential but i prefer to wrap everything) parcel wrap and proper tape to make sure it didnt burst open.
I emailed the buyer Sunday night when i got back and thanked them for the payment and said i would be dispatching the items on Tuesday morning as I couldnt get to the post office sooner (which is true)
Tues at 10am they got another message saying i'd just got back and that the tracking ID was XXX (I also updated paypal to show tracking ID)
Checked delivery and it was signed for on the wednesday
Buyer didnt leave any feedback to begin with and i thought "oh well" - logged on today and feedback was left today (nearly 30 days after auction ended)
Just annoyed that they didnt let me know there was a "problem" sooner
Even if i am at home, I always put 4 working days (like you say, cant plan for emergencies) and in all fairness, I still would have posted on the Tuesday even if i hadnt been on holiday (had appointment at hospital on Monday and i can be there from 2 hours up to all day so never ever plan anything for the Monday just in case)
The way im looking at it, They paid sunday, the clothes was posted and delivered within 36 hours (i dont think thats bad going!)0 -

Quite a long dispatch time. Buyers want things yesterday.
Suppose you can't tighten that up?
(I still think you did a really good job and some buyers you just can't please!)0 -
Yes, can't you arrange to send things yesterday in the future?0

Some buyers want the moon on a stick! On my work's Amazon account, I can't count the number of 4 stars we've had with glowing feedback!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

LOL I'll just nip back in my time machine with Dr Who and post them . . . lol
Still couldnt do anything about postage - well i suppose i can refund the 28p lol
I normally try and post as quickas i can - im not a business seller or anything - i sold 5 items on same day, all posted same day, this is only one to come back with low dispatch time. Was first things ive sold in a year lol0
