Hi,
I hope some one may be able to answer my query as I can't find the answer on the DirectGov site.
I work 12 hours a week as my only job and earn £84.00 I know I am exempt from paying NI and Tax but would like to know how I register this and where? Currently this is showing as gaps in my NI history.
Thanks in advance

Are you working part time because you're a parent?0

I too would like to know this. When I was working 22 hours for a year before getting my two new jobs.
I never paid national insurance through this year (due to wages being below the limit, I was on £4.92 an hour) apart from once when I did a big month and brough home nearly 700 quid.
Would my national insurance of been credited whilst I was working part-time, and where can I see a history of my national insurance contributions? Not payslips I mean an overall history0 -
You need to earn £102 a week to get NI credits (the LEL, see http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/nic.htm )
As you're working under 16 hours you could sign on for JSA to look for work of 16 hours then you'd get NI credits.0 -

You can get a state pension quote which will tell you:

If you earn over £102pw but under £139 then you're in the "nil" band where you get NI credits without having to pay NI:)0 -

I earned £108,xx per week and was 18 years old, it never told me I had been credit with NIC on my payslip0 -
It won't on your payslip, that'll just show amounts. The P60 might tell you. Or get a state pension quote0
