Proud Mummy to a new little girl - Phoebe... born 11 days overdue on 3rd Jan 2012.0 -
Omg nearly got trouted again!
My daughter and I had about six 4p items in our basket plus about £10 of shopping and we were quietly going through self service when the assistant came up and said that we had some items in our basket that had a recall notice on them and she needed to take advice on what to do.
My daughter muttered something about not understanding and then the assistant was called to another customer who was having trouble and walked off. I looked at my daughter and ordered her to scan fast! We put the last two things through and I pressed finish and pay and whacked my credit card in... this seemed to take ages lol.
Anyway we had finished by the time the assistant came back with the manager. They never said a word to us but just stood there. So we packed our things nicely (we had literally chucked them on the conveyer bit) and we left..... ooooh 4p socks feel great!! :rotfl:0 -

Sat down with a wine in hand and trying to relax. Think I will give all this a rest tomorrow as I'm feeling a bit jaded with it all.
Went and rescued those slendertones which I'd seen last night in Kiddy and got chatting with a lady on clothing. It was obvious it was all picked clean so I asked if she'd got any 4p items left. She said there were just a few oddments that she'd taken off the shelves on orders of the management. We had a good old chinwag and I did manage to just find 1 'try by day' set and asked her if I could have it as I only needed 4p to get my spend up big enough to use a £5 off £40 voucher. She said yes so another star SA!! Lady at check out was fine about it too.
Then went and met a couple of friends and had a nice walk by the river.
On the way home afterwards I tried the mahoosive new store at Dudley. Wanted to scan a few things but a line manager told me no customer scanners, claimed they were more trouble than they were worth. I tutted and said 'oh really' and sauntered off. Needless to say as a new store there were no bargains at all to be found as its all stocked out with new stuff. I nosed at the nivea and would you believe not one single can was on the shelf in the section where the offer was. I gave the people in that area a bit of grief and they managed to find just two small boxes out the back. What a pack of lies I thought and decided not to waste my time in there anymore.
Then popped to ahem, another store. Found 2 of the very small digital photo frames that scan for just £1. Never seen them there before so probably returns and on getting them home, one is in a zillion pieces in the box! Also a pair of jeans for 4p so had those too. While scanning other items I noted a bluetooth headset marked 'universal bluetooth headset' on the SEL with 'universal bluetooth headset' in big bold letters on the packaging at £9.81 with a star on the SEL so scanned it and it scanned at £29.97. Also looked at the Hitachi touro 500gb hard drives and one was marked up at £42.97 so scanned that too and it scanned at £62.97.
I bought them both and went to CS. Lady took about 10 minutes to actually turn up and nobody bothered to put a call in over the tannoy. Totally useless. Anyway she arrived in the end and straight away asked me to show her where I'd bought them from. I showed her the headset spot first and she says oh someones put it in the wrong place thats not the right one. She then inspected the barcodes and declared them to be totally different. Seemed odd though as there wasn't another SEL with either the right price or similar description to be found, but I accepted her explanation. She didn't quibble about the hard drive though.
Back at the counter she offered a full refund on the headset then gave me £20 for the HD at which point I reminded her of their DTD policy. She was a little huffy and had to get it 'authorised' but she came back and gave it but was a little offish. Tough lady, get your staff to do their jobs properly, that SEL was over a week out of date!!! Pathetic.
Went in search of a few whoopsies after but was running late so just a few packs of mince at 30p and 40p. but did manage to find another couple of pairs of jeans! Also lovely SA said she couldn't find an XL lounge set so I went and got it her and paid the 4p for it. Another friendly SA.
After all, not a 'bad' day I guess, but had enough for now. Well, until tomorrow........
EDIT...note to self, don't rush a post when you've just got in and are tired and trying to throw a glass of wine down ones neck as the post will be full of typos!!! lol0 -

seems lik eyou might be quite local to me?? - i have been to the dudley one before and it was terrible.. unhelpful staff.. terrible CS who refused to refund something, because id had a DTD on it, even though it was faulty..... and no scanners.
sometimes have a wander over to Cradely heath, but feel like its always been raided to the max...... guessing by you!!!! -
have yo managed to get the Casserole dishes anywhere local at all please? i would really like one of those but cant find them anywhere.....
whats the one like in Kiddy?? is it worth a trip for me, and do they have scanners please?Proud Mummy to a new little girl - Phoebe... born 11 days overdue on 3rd Jan 2012.0 -

About 8 people, quite obviously spend all day drinking cider, had blocked off the reductions aisle whilst the girl reduced items, then as soon as she finished, they jut threw EVERYTHING in their trolley, no one else got a look in, I only wanted down the aisle to get some dip.
Then they rushed round to the bread section and did the same again. I wanted some bread for my brother to put in his freezer, so I thought sod this, walked past them and queued up politely next to the lady. She didnt even put stuff back down after reducing, she kindly handed it to everyone else but this group of 8 people. Thats when it all kicked off, these 8 people started to snatch stuff out of the lady's hand as she was passing it to someone else, it wasnt a nice experience. I mean come on it was a 10p loaf of bread and does anyone really need 50 of them, I only got 1. I felt really sorry for the reductions lady, they were really threatening and intimidating, she couldnt get out of there quick enough. Neither could I.
Sorry to hear about the other stuff, but THIS is something that seriously p1sses me off!!
I'm a serious reduction person and consider it above all else as a way to save myself and family money and will protect it to the death!
I recently reported a couple who were hoarding piles and piles and piles of stuff ready for last reductions to the manager. He took all their stuff and took it out the back until they had gone and then reduced it. He's a fair bloke and won't stand no nonsense.
Only one thing to do on this one and that's report it to the manager. We all want our bargains, and none of us want scum like this ruining something that really does make a genuine week to week saving for out families. Theres a lady in my local store who comes in with her family and they barge in and try to take control of the reductions...........not when I'm there she don't, I can tell you!!!!0 -
Morning All
Not much of a day yesterday, got the crisps, baked spuds, no K/Roll or T/roll or knives but it was a small store going to the large extra this morning to try the knives and see what else is for the taking.
Happy glitching to all of you0
