Dry-cleaner messed up order!

Hello.
Yesterday I picked up my OH's two dresses from the dry-cleaner. However, it was the wrong ones! Today I'm taking them back to hopefully exchange them for the right ones. What if the dry-cleaner can't retrieve them? Do I have a legal stand for redress? (Pardon the pun). Thanks for all replies.

LATEST:

I just returned from the dry-cleaner, this time with the right dresses. :j
Anyway, I'm curious about the fact, had he lost them, where would I stand legally in terms of compensation?
