Brill, I've always found them brilliant - and sometimes it's nice to actually speak to someone opposed to typing figures in calculators etc As pps have suggested, she will have a lone parent advisor and they should be able to help with the sums. I was so much better off working, I don't know how I'm going survive on IS but I'm applying for things all the time, so I hope something comes up soon. It's a nightmare being a single Mum though, I just can't be flexible and that's causing the biggest issues.

    Anyway, glad you're sorted :j

Good luck finding something that suits your needs too!

Wish the DWP had told her about the lone parent advisor when she first claimed, but at least she knows now......just hope she wont need to use their services in the future.
  • Thank you - no-one at DWP has wanted to see her since her claim :( but I have got her an appointment to see one now.......in order to close her IS claim!
How long has she been on benefits, if you don't mind me asking as WFI are compulsary.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!
  • I wish your daughter and yourself well. :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Congrats to your daughter - and you for being so supportive of her and helping her out :)

One thing that nobody has mentioned here yet in terms of financial help - is she getting any Child maintenance from the baby's father? There may very well be a valid reason as to why she might not be, bt he too, is partly responsible for the financial needs for his child - whether he wants to be a part of the child's life or not.
