hi everyone! looking for someone to talk to... im currently 25 weeks pregnant and my waters broke saturday morning.. ive been in hospital and was allowed home yesterday. ive had no pain, no contractions and no blood at all. hospital will induce me in the 33 week period, but im absolutley terrified ill go into labour well before then.. especially as theyve told me if i do, they wont be able to stop it!! Anyone else had any experiences like this?? this is my second child. first went all the way through to full term, and had no problems with him at all so this is very new and terrifying to me!!

Didn't want to read and run, you must be feeling bad just right now. Big hugs, it's a stressful position to be in.
Hopefully someone will be alone who can help, but what have your docs and midwives said?0 -
Likewise, didn't want to read and run. I hope you're resting in bed with someone else looking after your toddler, bringing you drinks and meals etc. Hopefully everything will settle down but the best person to talk to is your midwife. Can you ask your carer to 'phone the midwife and ask her to call round? Write a list of questions you want to ask, and meantime here's a hug for you: :grouphug:0

My waters never broke but I did go into prem labour at 26 wks with DS1 and would agree its a terrifying experience !
I s'pose you just have to take their advice and rest and hope nothing happens be super aware of your body and any slight change get back to hospital for checks.
I think hospitals take the view of every week inside you is a bonus one of my best friends had her DD at 25wks too no warning just 20min labour then she arrived she's now a healthy 2yr old still small for her age but perfectly healthy try not to worry yourself too much it will only make matters worse.
Easier said than done I know please feel free to PM if you need to

My friend had exactly the same. You just need to follow any advice you have been given to prevent infection (ie no sex, no baths just showers)
Rest is important, make sure someone else is looking after your toddler, and avoid anything even mildly strenuous. Avoid foods etc that can induce labour (like curry, chilli, raspberry leaf tea) and make sure if there's anything you're unsure of, you clarify it with your midwife. Don't worry about ringing her op much, it's her job.
Have you been given steroids? Antibiotics?
And they CAN stop your labour, they stopped mine when I was 31 weeks using anti-contractants(?)0 -
Hi. My waters broke at 18 weeks and despite being told I would go into labour I didnt and after a week they let me go home. I lasted until 28 weeks before labour started and hes 7 now with no problems. Your baby is pretty much fully developed and from 28 weeks its just about putting fat on so rest up and drink plenty. The lungs have developed by now and it stands a good chance but each day is a bonus. Have they suggested you go and visit the special care unit so its not such a shock when the time comes? Also how are they monitoring you? Are you on antibiotics?0

A lot of places don't stop labour these days as there is often a good reason for it, and trying to stop it causes more harm.
Try not to worry, easier said than done.....pop over to https://www.babyandbump.com and go to the premature babies forum - you'll see loads of us over there with thriving prem babies and hopefully put your mind at rest.
I've just got back from our 12 month hospital review and everything is absolutely fine with my 28 weeker
Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0 -
Huge hugs. My waters broke at 27 weeks, they delivered my ds by c section at 34 weeks. It may seem impossible but you might go to 33 weeks plus. Do nothing you don't need to. My hospital let me go home after a couple of weeks but I was within 2 minutes of the door. I did end up back in for a few days on a couple of occasions after I'd had a bleed. You can and will get through this. My ds is now a happy, normal healthy 2 year old, you'd never know what a tough start he had. PM me if you'd like more info or support. Make sure you have had steroid injections for babys lungs and that they're checking regularly for signs of infection. Make sure they are checking ur temps frequently too. You should do this twice a day at home if you are discharged. You are likely to have scans to check the minimum pool depth of the liquor, make sure you drink plenty of fluid, and most of all, think happy thoughts, reassure your bump if you can. Good luck.xxxx
Just read you've been discharged..... Get someone else to do the housework! Sit on your bum as much as you can. I know it is difficult when you have a little one, but beg steal and borrow favours......if someone offers you help..... Take it without a second thought.xxx0 -
Tell bump its ruddy freezing outside so they dont want to come out now!
I dont have any experience of this but i do know (from the chart i used to read weekly!) that the baby is well developed by this point so they should be bulking out now. Your baby may be born small when the time comes but that doesnt mean they wont be healthy and full of beans!
Get them horseriding asap. Most jockeys were prem babies and they earn alot of money! :money:MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
i cant thank you all enough for your messages.. everyone of them has made me feel alot better.
i did have those 2 steroid injections while in hospital and since ive been home, ive had no pains, no blood and no more leaking. i went to have a check up yesterday and everything is normal.. they want to see me twice a week till week 28 where if everything is still well, itll go down to once a week.
as the days go by i feel more and more positive that everything will be fine, and that my babies just like to cause me as much stress as poss before their even born!
i am on antibiotics in case of infection. wasnt told to rest, not to have sex etc, but i planned on doing those things anyway. and yes i am checking my temp morning and night. again, its always been fine.
its very boring but im not doing anything but sitting and looking after toddler. hes not too much hard work and i plan on getting into bed when he has his (2 hour) nap
ive now read many stories of women having their children around the same time as this has happened to me and theyve all been positive. im hoping baby will stay put till week 28 or so, THEN it can make an appearance! im currently 25 weeks plus 4 days now.
thanks again everyone! xxx0 -
Every day you hang in there is an advantage.
80% of women will labour within 24hours - you are passed that so odds are better that you won't labour due to this - and your body will continue to make some fluid, just keep taking your antibiotics and rest.0
