Increasing credit card limits without asking

I am hoping you can help answer a few question and worries for me regarding a credit card debt I have.
I was given a Vanquis credit card [which I applied for as I needed it to go on holiday] and the credit limit was £300 which was great as I had got myself in trouble in the past so this limit was perfect.
However over time, and without my asking, the credit limit was raised again and again and again until it reached £3,000.
I missed a payment one month and the interest became so much that the next thing I knew I owed almost £4000 [£1000 interest].
Do I have any rights as they increased my credit limit without my asking for it??

Which is allowed. You could always have asked them to reduce your limit.
Your rights are matched by your responsibility. They didnt spend the money. They didnt force you to spend the money. You could have said no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Please tell me you're joking?0 -
If the limit of £300 was perfect for you why did you spend more than £300? If you had kept your balance at or below £300 and made at least minimum payments each month you could not have ended up owing £4000.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
