Linking two existing HSBC accounts to make one joint account???

Hi everyone,
My Husband and I each have an HSBC account with an overdraft. Mine £700, my husband's £800.
We pool our cash together, rather than having my money, his money but find that moving money between accounts is a bit impractical and we are often getting charges for exceeding our overdrafts simply because we haven't moved cash between accounts.
I would like to know if there is anyway of linking our accounts to make one account without the hassle of changing wage payments, direct debits ect??? Also weather HSBC would combine our overdrafts into one larger one of £1300 as we can't afford to pay either off at the moment.
After giving up full-time work when my daughter was born and going part-time, I no longer earn enough each month to take me back into the black, could this also be an issue???
Thanks in advance for any responses x

The easiest (perhaps only) option would be to open a third, joint account. They certainly won't "combine" the accounts but they may add each of you to the others account.
If you're both living within your overdrafts your internal scoring with HSBC is likely to be low, and so chances are the third account option wouldn't offer much(any?) overdraft facilities.
Hard to say without you trying, as always.I am an IFA, but nothing I say on this forum constitutes financial advice. Always draw your own conclusions and always do your own research.0 -
Thank you for your response,
So would you say I would be better off being added to my husband's account and altering my salary payments and direct debits? I was hoping to avoid that but sounds like it may be the only option.0
