playing mixed music on an ipod/mp3 player???

hi all,

i have loads of cd's that i have ripped to my music library that are mixed as in by a dj, these are usually set into seperate tracks but flow smoothly with no stop between the tracks.

when i put these onto my ipod it doesnt recognise that these are mixed and it puts a gap/pause between every track, only half a second or so but its annoying.

is there a way round this? or is there some software i can use to put all the tracks of a cd into one track??

You could use Audacity to merge all the tracks into one. I'm not sure if the 'pause between tracks' is a setting on the iPod, or just a side effect of loading times.

If you select all the tracks then press [cmd] (on a Mac - possibly [ctrl] on Windows) you'll get a dialog box that lets you set "Gapless album" to "Yes".

on a pc highlight make sure you have the latest version of itunes and your ipod is upgraded to latest software

then in itunes make sure the track number tags are filled out for each song - select the entire album and right click and select info - you can then set the "Gapless album" box

im not sure if other mp3 players have this ability though

tbh i thought it would be as easy as selecting an option within itunes, but obviously not!

looks like i will have to use audacity.

Im not sure about Ipods, but I know all MP3 players do that, and theres sod all can be done about it, its down to the firware, which cant handle streaming tracks as one. It annoys me listening to a live album or a Floyd album, but its just one of those things.
