I don't know about kittens but I can tell you its completely normal for puppies to sleep an awful lot of the time so its probably similar! Growing and figuring everything out takes a lot of energy, do they have short bursts of activity followed by long naps?
If there's a big discrepancy and you're worried you could give the vet a ring just to put your mind at ease, or their breeder if you got them from a reputable breeder.0 -
My kitten slept a lot but he was a little monkey when he was awake. I'd mention it to your vet when you take him in for their jabs and see what they say.:jOverdraft = Gone!! (24/6/11)

Kittens can sleep for about 20 hours a day, so all quite normal!Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0

Cats sleep for most of the time! but, they are individuals so one cat can sleep more than onether!
I cant work out why they are so athletic! humans have to train for hours a day, where cats can sleep, wake up, have a shake and they can perform huge leaps and bursts of speed any sprinter would envy! perhaps sleep is better than training!0 -
when mine were kittens they slept all day apart from a food and toilet run then spot on 11pm they both used to go mental racing up and down the stairs and across the landings like a herd of buffalos:eek:
since they are older (still not adults yet) they spend a lot of the day playing outside now and prefer to sleep at night so i think it all changes as they get older xx***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -
They're babies, it is totally normal.2 angels in heaven :A0

It isn't uncommon for kittens to sleep between 16 and 20 hours a day.
Virtually every baby/young mammal spends most of the day asleep as it is believed that particularly in mammals that grow rapidly the sleep assists in maintaining and regulating energy and brain function. This is why some baby/young animals, such as cats and dogs, may seem excessively hyperactive one minute and then be fast asleep the next.
Many mammals continue to sleep for prolonged periods as an adult. An adult cat may sleep for an average of 12 hours per day.0
