Digital picture on tv really bad

Don't know whether it's the really sh***y weather conditions, but most of our digital channels are unwatchable and have been for a couple of weeks - pixellating and loud crackling. Recording on a pvr is the same, plus what looks like fast-forwarding.
We are on Winterhill, and can watch BBC1 and 2, but I like Channel 5 and E4. Funnily enough, E4+1 is better!
Anyone in the know out there as to what is happening (everything was OK until recently, and we have a good aerial)
