Today's spends
£18.61 in Home Bargains
£33.14 in Farm Foods
£29.87 in Aldi
Grand Total: £77.63 (excluding £3.99 hair dye)
DH and DS2 have also taken custody of the bank card to go and have their hair cut.
However today was a BIG shop. The cupboards and freezers were almost run down. Next week I wont need to buy washing up liquid, washing clothes liquid, cotton wool pads, lady items, amongst other stuff so it should come in at around the £70 mark but I am deffo going to try and do a 2-week meal plan.
I didn't meal plan however because my nephew was a little sod last night (13 months old) and he tired me out. I had forgotten how much you actually have to watch them. He's not walking yet but he is crawling and into everything. I was far too tired to lift a pen so once he dropped off to sleep AT 10PM!!! I watched three episodes back to back of the first series of Downton Abbey until his parents wobbled home.
Re heating: When I got home last night I noticed DH must have turned it off. I have put it onto timed though, although I will double check the timings cos last winter I was in my old job with vastly differing times to those I work now.
I saved money by buying my hair dye from Home Bargains where it was about £1.50 cheaper than at the supermarket or Boots.
It's football day today so rather than go to Greggs and spend £7 on pasties and pop like I have got into the habit of doing, I'm taking us a packed lunch.

Update to today's spends
£2.00 - DS1
£10.00 - DS2 & DH haircuts
£5.67 - further shopping in Morrisons
Got in from football and discovered 500g of diced beef in a slow-cooker curry rapidly evaporates to nowhere near enough meat to feed three adults  (even with rice) so I had to do an emergency shopping trip to Morrisons to get some spicy snacks to bulk it up. I think I will just stick to making chicken curries in the future. Also remembered I hadn't bought any potatoes during today's shopping and as we all know potatoes are the staple food of frugalistas plus I needed them for a Sunday dinner tomorrow....
DS1 was moaning that I had emptied his wallet of change (don't look at me like that, I swapped the change for notes) so I had to give him £2 because he doesn't seem to understand that shops give change too and just because he were to take a tenner to the shop, he wouldn't have to spend it all....(confused.com).
I had to pay a visit to Halfords. In my Rock n Roll spending days I bought a new car radio including a new lead to connect it to my steering wheel. Anyway after several trips to Halford's and back over the past three weeks, they've finally accepted that it's not going to work, so offered to refund me on the part, so £29.99 went back onto my credit card today. So along with the £15 refunded by Peacocks last week that's £45 off my debts this month (hooray) :T:T.
DH has a face like a slapped !!!!. I can't seem to do anything right. It just seems that he doesn't want to be around me. Every time I try to make conversation I get one word replies. He says he's "bored" and in not-so-many-words that is clearly my fault. I can't see why he's got to be bored. We had 3.5 hours out of the house this afternoon watching a cracking game of football, X-Factor is on later and he really likes that, he's had his hair cut, I've said yes to him having a new pair of trainers (not purchased yet - he is aiming to run a 10k), he's had a lie-in, and had a good hour in the multigym....I don't like it when he's like this. I always want to cave in and say yes to whatever he is sulking for....
Tomorrow should be a low / no spends day....

sorry to hear your OH is behaving like a 2 year old. Seems to me that some men need to be treated with a firm hand and you have to stick to your guns about the budgetting etc otherwise like a child he will just do the same the next time he wants sommit. makes me sound horrible but i have to keep this in mind when i think i need to buy things, if i give in and let myself spend money then it gets easier and easier to spend yet more money.0

I really do feel for him. He has given up smoking and drinking to save money, yet here I am further cutting his money even more. I can see why he is peed off. But it's not like I haven't allowed for him to have any frittering money. £30 a week is not to be sniffed at. Now he's over the shock of his car (as it got repaired for free) it's as if the money problems have disappeared and I'm just being cruel for the sake of it.Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
he's still on his journey but it won't be long before he realises that £30 is a FORTUNE!!! Over the last few years i've been lucky to have that for an entire month after all necessaries have been paid. Yes i got into debt but this was the outcome of my decision to get out of debt, he's helped you get into debt so he has to help you get out of it.
fingers crossed it will all calm down and get to a good happy level soon.0 -

Have you had a look at checking out your own utilities through cash back site? if you haven't then have a go you'll be surprised what you can save. Also i know with my leccy last year when i actually looked into it i could stay with my same provider but change the online plan and save a fair bit of money, if i hadn't looked then i would have continued paying more. I have to admit though i'm a terror with turning things off and running things overnight in cheap leccy, it all helps eventually even if it's just to reduce the DD by a couple of quid each month.
Yes, cheap-card-shop-hell is Card Factory, I hate going in there as it's always too hot, too bright and too busy. But - I like cheap cards....
I've just switched to an online saver plan for gas and electricity and the 'projected use' is even on that tarrif. No way would I get it cheaper anywhere else..Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
Nothing much to report today. It is strictly speaking a no spend day but I got DS2's school bag ready for tomorrow which meant paying out:
£2.50 - after school football
£10.00 - tickets to magic show (DS2, DH and I are going to go and watch this which is being held at the school to raise funds for the PTA)
DH is still sat here scowling because he is bored. I did offer him a tenner to go to the pub but he surprisingly turned it down....He's watching footy now.
I've seen another job, at a college, that I am going to apply for this afternoon. Applying for jobs is so blooming repetitive isn't it? :rotfl:Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
good luck with the job application, i find them soul destroying as when i get to the interview they take one look at me and decide that i'm not worth hiring (well that's what it feels like anyway)
enjoy your evening0 -

. Thanks. Done it, thankfully I was able to cut and paste lotsly from my CV. Closing date isn't until 20th October so ages away yet, but I would like very much to hear from them. However you can guarantee because I hate my current employers, I will never ever gain employment anywhere else again.....(although I do appreciate I am lucky to be in paid employment)Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
i was like that with my last two jobs, took me well over a year to get new ones whilst i hated my then current employer throughout the entire time0
