Unfortunately even if you have the COA it doesnt matter as its just so easy to bypass anything that MS have put in place the only way you would of ever got the PC back is by having it tackable by an independant company as MS dont touch that sort of security for the home user and are not that interested for the business user either.
Also the COA is usually on the underneath and at the back of a laptop.0 -
as messenger is available to one and all...and the id is being used....could you not befriend the user online....build trust.....chat them up....arrange to meet for a coffee.....tell the police and have a welcoming comittee?I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
I'd thought about it but wanted to think of a good way of doing it. The id will not come online as visible anymore I'm sure as they will know others will see it, but maybe sending some email I thought even if it was just straight out to ask if they would please please email back the work related documents but I don't want to do anything just yet before speaking to the police about it just in case it hinders anythingThanx

Why dont you get a yahoo email account for free and then send the thiefs an email asking for your property back as all the coursework is on it and its years worth even if they put the PC somewhere where you could pick it up or something no questions asked, and then shop them to the old bill or something

Well it depends who has got it I suppose. The person who has it now may not have actually stolen it but bought it off those that did. You never know maybe they would return it if they thought they could get into troube for being in possesioin of stolen goods but its long shot. At the most we could see if they will email some documents to usThanx
