- reports of disciplinary hearings against various letting agents: Well, it's a start, I'd never realised any action was ever taken by the lettings industry against their own...fines seem small.. Shame there is no requirement for a Letting Agent to be regulated, educated, or a member of any industry body...

The Tribunal issued the following statement:

“The Tribunal greatly acknowledges the attendance today of Mr xxx-xxxx
as complainant in this matter.
From the papers presented there has been a clear case, as found by the County
Court, that papers were modified, after signing, in an attempt to take advantage of
Mr xxx-xxxx.
The failure to operate a formal complaints procedure in this matter compounds the
member’s failings.
Mr Bashir has resigned from membership of ARLA. Had this not been the case the
Tribunal would have had no hesitation in expelling him from membership.”

  • Bumped for the benefit of greedy, lazy, incompetent letting agents.
  • We had a letting agent round to discuss what rent we could charge etc. We asked the usual questions but I started to wonder if he was serious or if everything I had read was wrong. He said if they don't pay the rent, get a couple of mates round 'to sort them out' I was expecting him to say issue the forms etc....He did give some unusual replies but that was the one that surprised me most.
