I have a joint account and a sole account, but not tried to ask for two single accounts.0

I have two accounts. Don't expect an automatic overdraft on the second one though !0

I have a sole account and a joint account with OH for bills, both have O/D facilities the joint account only gets around £500 per month paid in.0

You can have several if you want BUT only overdrafts on each one based on your credit rating0

Is that because no wage is going in the second account?
No, in theory, you shouldn't need an overdraft on a bills account. Money is transferred in to cover what goes out, hence no need for an overdraft. If you want an overdraft, i wouldn't mention you'll be using it for a bills account.0 -
Instead of having 2 current accounts with First Direct, why not ask them if they will give you a credit card to put your spending on?
Seems like a better idea than running 2 current accounts.0 -
I have 2 1st accounts. Just called up and asked for it - was honest when I said I wanted a second as a spending account separate from bills.
Both with £500 overdrafts. The first £250 is interest free on both of them. Both show up on internet banking as per usual, can have payees, direct debits, etc.
Just be aware you will be credit checked again and the accounts will be listed separately on your credit record because they are separate credit facilities.0
