                    So heres the story,
I bought 2 large jewellery boxes from argos exactly 2 months ago now for presents.
The first was given as a present about 1 month ago and all was fine.
The 2nd was given yesterday and when it was opened, it was found that the glass inside had shattered.
now i admit I was stupid in not checking the boxes when I bought them to make sure they were ok but lesson learnt.
I took it back into argos today and put my hands up and admitted i was stupid in not checking it. All was going fine until the lady at customer service started pointing out dents in the wood and "signs of extensive use" around the item....
I maintained that it had not been used and had only been taken out of the box yesterday but she refused to listen and still stated that "all of these dents etc show that it has been used"
so I then ask if we can call head office just now as Argos have sold me a product that their staff obviously feel has been used yet havent advertised it...
After that, I managed to get a gift voucher very quickly.
Yes I know I was stupid in not checking the box, but how can Argos get away with selling something that has "dents and scratches on it" if it has never been used???? all I know is if my mum had gone in she would have come away thinking she somehow caused these things without taking the item out of the box!!!

In the same way you didnt check the contents, Argos dont check the contents of everrrrrrry single item.
For all we know it could have been a work experience trainee in the factory that dropped it and quickly shoved it in the box.
You've been lucky this time, just remember to learn from your mistakes and check next time.0 -
You've got to admit, it does look very suspicious0

I have got a feeling that sometimes, somehow, returned goods get sent out as new again.
I think this as a few years back I bought a blind that when taken out the box,was faulty(can't recall what the main fault was) but someone had already obviously had the item because there were pencil lines on it and cut marks.0 -
im not denying that they should have had a look at it...Im just pointing out that I honestly didnt use it or even take it out of its box. But it seemed to be in a condition that led to them thinking I had been using it....
So even if i had taken it back within the month, they still would have had the same problem.
My point about this is they have obviously sold something that their own staff is is saying looks as if it has been used...0 -
It may have been returned simply as 'unwanted gift' and exchanged for something else. But, it should have been checked!0
