My dad will be 70 in July and we want to go away for a few days for his birthday as a family.

Well the cheapest flights are to Amsterdam, now i've been here and loved it.

I think he thinks that it is just the red light area. I've told him that there are lovely areas.

Would you take your youngish 70 year old dad to amsterdam?

does anyone have any idea as the location as i think that it will be on the Rokin down from dam square.

It will be between Dam Sq. and Muntplien. not sure if 1521 is a house number or property code on that site.

My only concern would be any road works as there were loads last year when we were there.

My favorite cigar shop is on Rokin 92-96 Hajenius.

The Red light district is only about 2 or 3 streets in a huge city. There is so much more to Amsterdam than just drugs and prostitutes. I've been there twice with my boyfriend and we got engaged there too and never experienced any drugs or prossies the whole time we were there.

I have been and we stayed in the barbizion palace which is just by the station.

But i wanted to take him away from that which is why i thought this area.

Some other apts i've been offered are in the waterlooplein area, which is behind the red light area.
