Hong Kong or Singapore

Trying to get to Australia for a holiday of a life time....

We get a stop over in either HKG or SIN (Emirates / Singapore Air) for 3 days

Any suggestions? 2 adults, 2 kids(?) 16 and 13

Thanks,

S.

Definitly Hong Kong. We have just returned from Australia and stopped in Singapore, 2 nights there and 10 hours on the way back!

For the last 2 years we have spent a week in Hong Kong and I feel that there is much more to see and do whether just for an add day or as a holiday. Singapore was wonderful but I dont think I would choose to go again - been there done it.

Our next Oz trip would be with stops in Hong Kong. One lesson learnt from our trip if time permits try to stay overnight both ways We've been back just over a week and still not recovered!.

I've do the route frequently and Singapore is my prefered option. However if you want a longer stopover, there is a lot more to see in Hong Kong. Most people are restricted for time and just want a "breather" i.e. a night or two each way to break the journey up - which is again why I choose Singapore.

As per above post - Singapore is simple, easy to traverse, clean etc. And i'd also say, sterile....! (But I have been there 12 times and the attraction has long since waned).

Hong Kong - what a place, for me no contest - wins hands down.

Agree with the above. If you want a rest during the three days then Singapore will be relatively relaxed. I don't need to do Singapore again though. I would suggest going to Hong Kong, and even doing a day trip on the speed ferry (50mins each way) to Macau (might be a bit of a squeeze). Two nights can be occupied by the peak and horse racing in Hong Kong.

I'd go for Singapore if you have 2 kids...you can spend a day at Sentosa Island (http://www.sentosa.com.sg/) then go and do the Night Safari (http://www.nightsafari.com.sg/)

Both are great! Happy Valley night racing is an amazing experience. If you just sit in the grandstand the noise the crowd makes is unbelievable.
If you choose Singapore I recommend a trip to Clarke Quay in the evening. Very nice.

How about Hong Kong on the way, and Singapore on the way back!
