It's worth searching on Facebook for local Buy/Sell/Swap type groups. Lots of places have specific ones too - Baby and Kids stuff, and general clothes ones seem to be a popular.Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I have just received a lovely message from Aesop reminding me that its the 4th birthday of the £10 a day thread. FOUR YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow a lot has happened since then!!! For a start I have been out of debt for a long time and a lot of that was thanks to this thread, and I think once you have completed the £10 a day thread for a few months it sticks with you and you even subconsciously you are constantly looking for ways to make a few more pennies.
Well done and thank you to everyone who has kept the thread going month in month out and well done to everyone who has taken part.

Hi Everyone - weekend over again!!
I good a good evening tonight - I was looking through Quidco - as I dont have much left on that to be paid - I wanted to boost my cashback - so I signed up for an online bingo site. Never tried it before - but seen loads of ad's on TV and thought I would give it a go... My partner had gone to the pub for the evening - so I thought it would pass the time for me!!
I deposited £15 - for which i will get £15 cashback from quidco - but I wont count that until I have the money in my account. Also the site matches my deposit - but I am not going to count that either - but I am going to count the £60 that I won!! I very quickly paid it back into my bank account!! That will be used to pay off some debt this month!! My plan is to not add anymore funds into this account and just play with the remaining credit that I have. I have to say though - it made the few hours this evening fly by - and if I had of went to the pub with my partner - I would have spent a lot more on the £15 that I deposited!!
So I have added £60 to my total!!
I have also 3 items that ended on ebay this evening - once they have all paid and I have posted and worked out fee's etc.. I will add that money as well.0 -
Im feeling slightly annoyed. I am due to make 230 cupcakes for a charity ball this weekend for free, the same ball I also did last year. After last year I was told that I would be invited to this years ball as a thank you but I've now been told there are no tickets available as they are all sold out. Feeling slightly used, I dont make a penny out of this and actually lose money as I pay for all the ingredients. It'll take me 1.5 days to make them all and Im not even allowed to advertise this year(I did last year and didnt get a single order/enquiry from it!). Really feel like pulling out but I've become quite good friends with the organisers. Money's tightish too and I begrudge spending out £80 for something I wont even be part of. I know its for charity but I do feel like they're taking the mickey.
Oh nat thats terrible, I think if it was me, I would be saying I had priced up the ingredients and at £80 I just couldnt afford to make them this year. Anyone who donates their time and money like that should be recognisd, just because you are friendly with them doesnt mean they can take you for grantedSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
nat, me personally?
I would say no. If you cannot advertise your business, not even an acknowledgement on a poster, and you are paying for the ingredients, your time, not an invite to the ball, is a pretty raw deal.
I am all for supporting charities but it has to be my choice how I support them.
My friend is doing a fundraiser next year for a charity that helped her after her son died last year, which I think is great. But she never told me, I found out through facebook and when I said to her I had seen it, and what a great idea, she was complaining none of her friends were doing anything to help her.
I said she could have a big teddy bear that belongs to DS for her charity auction, brand new, he has never played with it, etc. She said thanks but she has no room in her flat to store it, as she is expecting another child this christmas. Then she asked me to ask all the local shopkeepers if they would consider donating to her charity.
I have declined because I don't have the time for it, and would have to explain it is not me doing the fundraising. I know the shopkeepers where I live, so they would think it was for me.
Sometimes, even when you are friends, you have to say no. Especially when it is a lot of hard work for you too.
Morning Aesop:A
Its difficult to say NO but sometimes you have to. You have tried your best. Just be there for her if she needs someone to talk to. Will be difficult for her when new baby arrives.
