Return To Work Credit contact number?

I've just started a new job after being on incapacity benefit for the last 18 months and am trying to apply for the 'Return to Work Credit' of £40 per week.
Now, this has to be done within 5 weeks of starting employment but can't seem to get any sense out of the benefit helpline? I asked for a form to be sent which hasn't arrived as yet.
I called the DWP to ask if the form had been sent and was told that they do not deal with this, then gave me a direct number to call: 0208 2586551. No answer!

Anyone got any idea how I can contact the RTWC team direct?:)

  • Think you may have to go to your Jobcentre Plus to get one and return the form to them as they have to authorise the payments.Did you see a Disability Employment Advisor before you returned to work as I would have thought they would have given you a form. Its quite simple to complete.
  • Hi there

Have just applied for this myself last week and it definatley has to be done in person at the Jobcentre.
  • I've managed to get a number for my local RTWC team and they are sending me the form through which I return to them within 5 weeks of starting work.

Yes, you can do it through your local jobcentre too. Either speak to the 'Disability Employment Adviser' or ask for the RTWC form. I hope that helps others too!

    Thanks for the replies:)
  • hi hope someone can help me out here ive searched for an answer as to get RTWC and how i claim it as at the moment i am appealing my ESA decision but dont think im going to win its been 20 yrs now and im thinking of going back to work and someone said i would get this RTWC and a job grant too , but i cannot find the answer to it .... do i find a job first then tell jobcentre ? or do i tell jobcentre first what im planning to do ( im afraid if i do tell them first i'll blow it and they will automatically put me on JSA which i wouldnt be entitled to rtwc then ) ?? plus because im appealing is this going to affect it ? i really dont know what to do but i need to be quick at deciding or i'll soon be on jsa when i lose my appeal .....any help would be much appreciated thanks
