hi, my husband was caring for someone so he got c.a, income support and a carers premium .
the person has moved away so he no longer cares for them so the c.a has stopped.
soooo...
does my husband now immediatly go onto jsa and thats it
or should he still get i.s with the carers premium for 8 weeks then switch?
the dwp site says it should continue for 8 weeks after caring ends but the social person he saw said thats only if the person he was caring for has died.
any help please?

If the person you care for comes off their disability benefit, your Income Support / Carer's Premium continues for 8 weeks. But, your Carer's Allowance stops.
If the person you care for dies, Carer's Allowance continues for 8 weeks after the death.
Think the social person is confusing CA with CP.0 -
You could phone the Carers Allowance Unit on 0845 608 4321. they should be able to give you the right info.0

matt2222 is correct. Carers Allowance continues for 8 weeks if the person dies - along with the IS claim.
If someone stops caring then the CA stops and the IS continues on its own for a further 8 weeks. It then stops unless another condition of entitlement exists.0 -
thanks guys , just silly people stopped our i.s claim and made him sign on straight away so now they need to change it around again - another few weeks with no money at this rate :-(
its not just the mistake they made in the first place its the fact you have to keep ringing, they dont call back when they say they're going to and all the stress it causes all this time you're not gettin paid. would be nice if half the people there knew their own policies lol0
