Converting a pendant lampshade to fit a table lamp base

Is this possible? I have been told there is a small cheap fitting which can do the job, but nobody seems to agree on what it is called. Also, please could someone provide a link to an example of this fitting for sale?

Is the ring on the shade too big for the lamp?

If so, you need a lampshade ring reducer. If you are near an ikea they sell them very cheaply there.
