Part-Exchange - how do we cover ourselves?
We are about to buy a Mini Cooper S, and part-exchanging a Ford Ka. The Ka is not worth very much, has rust and the driver door lock is dodgy. We have informed the dealer of this.
How can we cover ourselves if the dealer realises the car is in a worse state than he thought, after the deal is done and he inspects it? Do we insist the the paperwork reflects "sold as seen"?

After the deal is done he can't do anything about it. He's a professional, so rest assured you wont be getting too much for your car.0

Your car is probably worthless to them anyway, If they get the auction fee back that will be happy.
If you tried hard enough im sure they would sell you the car for the same price without the part ex.
Some will see if as a liability and more work involved to shift it. Unless they have a young staff member

Don't worry the dealer knows far better than you as to what both cars are worth - once the relevant paperwork has been exchanged then its deal done.0
