Re-claiming PPI even if in debt?

So i've been trying to think of ways to help clear some debts off quicker, and someone said about the whole PPI reclaiming business.

Although i have had some things taken out pre 2007, I wouldnt know where to begin as some of the debts have been passed on and on (obviously was paying to begin with until things got harsh...being on this forum, im sure you all know what i mean )
Can i still claim on these if there is still an outstanding debt with them? obviously i would imagine i could only claim on payments made, but i was thinking, every little could help clear them quicker.

one in particular is a ccj which i ended up having an AoE for, i've been paying that for just over 5 years now, so £5200 paid, another £4000 to go frrom a loan that my hubby took out, but then we had it re-arranged a year or so later, i didnt know whether i could still claim from that.

has anyone done this and been successful?

You should still be able to make a claim if the PPI was originally missold. Have a look on the PPI reclaim section of the forum and have a read of the guides - Reclaim PPI & Other Insurance
