I certainly understand what you're saying, and I agree that educating people also plays a major part. We've had a number of high-profile drink-driving campaigns here each December for the last number of years, but unfortunately the message still isn't getting through to a number of people. They won't be affected by these changes (as they'll already be over the limit), but people need to realise the only safe limit is not to drink if they're going to drive. Part of the issue is knowing how many pints are "legal", as it all depends on each person's metabolism. This does bring up the issue of people who are still drunk the next morning, which is a whole different point.
I personally think reducing the alcohol limit plays a part, as do campaigns to reduce speeding, driving whilst tired, etc.0 -

Thank you for making my point better than I could manage.
The money and effort spent on this campaign could be better spent elsewhere and in ways which would save more lives than by doing this.
So in effect this campaign could be seen as actually costing lives due to inaction elsewhere.
But it will haul in lots of non-dangerous "criminals" so obviously it's doing something please vote for me.0 -
So somebody having two glasses of wine at night could be over the limit driving to work at 7 the next day.
No, that's a catorgoric statement that that they wouldn't be.
To explain, 2 x3 units = 6 units.
Assume session ended at 11pm, so 1 unit lost per hour from 1 hour after last drink, say 12pm ?
No alcohol in system after 6 am.
Does make a dam farce of it for those of us, and I'm 1, that would never dream of driving on top of any drink, but need to be assured that we are conforming the next day.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Gawd?, what's the name of the guy that presents Police, Camera, Action??
All that spout about drink driving and the havoc such drivers cause, but guess what, 1/2 way through the 2nd series he gets a drink driving ban:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, merkin hypocrite,
Oh yeah, Alaister Stewart, ???
Not condoning, just suggesting that all the hype is a little too symplisticI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I assume you mean Alastair StewartBut I do agree with you. He's not one of the experts I would rely on, though.

Yeah, that guy is a bit of a plank and his cometary is often blatantly toeing the line. I particularly like it when he tries to generate extra drama by saying things like "They just rammed the police car" after the police car pulls in front of the person being pursued.
Still he's nowhere near as bad as his American equivalent, Sheriff John Bunnell, who has to put a positive spin on all the crap that the American police pull.0 -
