Food price cuts
Options
So, Mr T is slashing prices from today on 'basic food items'!
I'll be popping in later, although my local is only a small store, to check it out.
It will be interesting to see what is cheaper, by how much, if other things go up to compensate, and if there are regional differences, so if any of the MSE army scouts can report back, that would be great.
Do you think this will instigate a price war?
Do you think this is to help out the poor consumer in these hard times, or is it a ploy to get us back in the door before putting prices up again?
Am I just an old cynic?

That's how the crafty b*ggers fool us:mad:
They will have been planning this for weeks & pushing prices up to make us think we are now getting a bargain. Bunch of !!!!!!:mad:Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

I think I have started to really despise Mr. T actually for the exact reasons that others have pointed out, I find them completely greedy and money orientated. I used to shop nowhere else! Now I shop in Asda and ok, some things I dont like i.e F&V so i go to the market or pick your own but remember if you have one near you they still do their 10% guarantee so even if Tesco "slash" their prices Asda will always be cheaper.
I personally think its just a ploy to get customers back through their doors. I think consumers are more savvy these days and more and more people are shopping for value than convenience.
I do however feel that it is good for those people who have no other alternative, at least they will get some temporary savings. I think if i had no other choice than to shop there I would be stocking up the 2nd freezer with bread and milk etc as i dont think they will stay down for long or get much lower tbh.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
You are right CH27 we were all saying yesterday that it's just another blinking swizz! Then the prices will gradually creep back up again. They may fool some but the rest of us have T's sussed!
I use them more than they make out of me I can assure you!
I haven't shopped in T's for about seven weeks now so any gradual price increases I won't have seen or been hit with. I have been doing a little bit at Asda but in the main it's been Aldi and Lidl - saved allot I know!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Mr M has a good deal on milk at the minute. They've got one of these 'budget brands' of milk which is only £1 for 4 pints, same as Aldi/LidlEvery act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

I won't use te$$$co unless I absolutely have to!!!0

They had a great offer on Milk (3 for £3) now £1.25 a bottle! And 500g Cheese 2 for £5, that's gone!!!
Everything that has been cut in price it's just showing for a month!!!!!!
AND to make it worse, most items have been creaping up over the last 4 weeks and have just gone back to the price they were before...!
So I wrote a complaint... said my money would do the talking and i'll take it to Sainsbury's for my milk....!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
