moss in the lawn

  • Worms will come in reponse to water/fluid. Cannot think of anything (well anything that works) that will not kill off the worms but diluted bleach is good for paths/driveways and cheap. Not too strong if you have the fancy red paviers because very strong solution may take the colour out of them.

How do I get rid of the Green growth on my Paths please?
I have Clay soil and my Paths seem to be permenantly damp.
I tried Jeyes Fluid, but I noticed the Worms were coming up and dying.
Is there anything harmless that I could use?
    Thank you.

What are your paths made from? Often carefull use of a pressure washer will be the solution!

    Thank you.
My paths in the back Garden are Concrete and starting to crack.
A friend also suggested diluted Biological soap powder left to soak into the paths, then use a stiff Brush.
I will try all 3 suggestions.

depends what kind of moss, cut it higher would probably be my 1st recoemndation, and dont fall for these moss 'killers' the ONLY way to get rid of moss is by removing it! u cant just kill it like weeds get some fertilizer on it too, to get the grass thats there growing better to help try nd force the moss out. if u have alot of thatch or a compact soil then u need an aration/scarification.

What causes moss in the first place? I noticed yesterday that my front lawn is full of it, so much so that it feels as though you're walking on a sponge!

I had patchy moss on my lawn and used Evergreen "weed and feed" with mosskiller last year around Sept/Oct. At present, the moss patches are nowhere to be seen and the grass has taken over. If you have large, thick patches of moss, then perhaps, as mentioned in other posts, you should remove it and then feed but as mine was mixed in amongst grass, the mosskiller/grass feed combo seems to have done the trick in killing off the moss and encouraging the grass to take over

if it feels like a spnge then you have a VERY thick layer of thatch and is desperate for a PROPER scarification and will be the main reason for the moss, possibly compact aswell, no point in removing the moss in that lawn unless you tackle the cause as it will just keep comeing back.
