Looking to buy a new Insignia. Is this a good offer?

I’m looking for a new car. Until last Saturday I’d only considered a second hand car because of the high depreciation in the first couple of years. However, I’ve come across an offer from Vauxhall which I’m very tempted by for a 2.0 Tdi 130bhp Insignia. Taking into account the time value of money from a 0% finance offer with no deposit, £5000 trade in for our current car (book value £890) plus a further £500 discount from Vauxhall I’m looking at just over £15,000. Is this good value? Would I get a better price later in the year?

I suggest that you compare the deal with price of, say, one or two year old cars. If you plan to keep the car a long time it may be worth paying the extra for brand new but it all depends upon your circumstances e.g. annual mileage, technical knowledge etc.
  • £5000 trade-in for a car worth only £890? Or do you mean £500 trade-in?

The 0% deal from Vauxhall is a good one in all respects - other than the depreciation factor which makes £500 discounts pale into insignificance. The Insignia is a high volume (fleet orientated) car and won't be worth a huge amount come re-sale time. Have a nose through Glasses or A.N other guide to get a feel for where you might stand in 3 years time compared with say a BMW, Audi or Skoda of a similar price point.. HTH

Yes five thousand - it's a minimum trade in figure - It's part of their offer, and obviously a rather attractive part!

Might be an OK deal but check the online dealers you should be getting round £6k+ off a new Insignia. If there is say less than £500 in it I would probably deal with the local dealer.

Sell your car for £800+ and buy a £100 shed and part ex that instead. £700 better off.

Is it new or ex-demo or pre-reg? From £13,995 at carquake.

Looks like you need to shop around a LOT more and know what that models actually worth.

RRP £20,000 just for YOU £15,000. Dont want it? know anyone else that may like this deal?
£13,999 down the road, nah it must be an inferior model, Sorry we dont sell that model.
