I have two unwanted laptops. One is a Sony vaio and the other is a HP. The Sony is missing a battery pack and the HP wont respond at all when i turn it on. So what is the best way to either sell them for parts, if this possible, of if not would a charity be interested in them. Do bear in mind that i am unable to remove data due to them both not in a working state.
I am at a loss as what to do with them both.

ebay is the best bet, after you've removed the hdd, popped them in a caddy to copy off your personal data then erase your bits from them and re-fit (leave Op Sys on them if you can, they'll be worth more like that).......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
If you prefer you can just take the hard drives out and keep them. You can sell the machines for parts without the hard drives. That way your info is safe. As Gunjack has suggested, you can fit the hard drives into a caddy in order to create a portable hard drive.
You can buy them for around £3 here.
Very simple to use.
Post the full model numbers for advice on the right caddies for your machines.0 -
If you lived in London, I would refurb them for free on the proviso that you would donate them to a suitable cause.0
