Clamping claim

I was clamped whilst parked at my place of work as I forgot to display my parking permit (I accidentally left it in my car door), and was forced to pay a £250 fine or risk my car being towed away. The clamping firm was Park Direct Ltd and I was parked on private land. I have written to both the land owners and the clamping firm, asking for my money back and have received response letters, without success.
The next stage is to go through the small claims process, but what is the best tactic to get my money back? Should I claim against both the landowners and the clamping firm, or just the landowners - I'm not expecting any joy with the clamping firm. I am claiming that the penalty is too high, as I am permitted to park there and there is no cost to the landowner, my permit was presented to the clamper once someone had told me that I had been clamped. Am I likely to have any luck with this? Or is there at better approach?

Claim on all of those points; also look at the signage, were you aware that as an employee you faced the risk of being clamped (and why the heck does your firm allow this to happen to their employees?).
Also look at the receipt. Get help by posting a pic of the receipt and the signs, and an account of your story, on pepipoo.com forums, where they have experience of getting clamping money back in court. Read a few clamping threads then register, read the FAQs such as 'how to post pictures' then start your own topic asap:

You must name both parties when you sue, and you can cite other cases to show why the landwoner is jointly and severally liable. Here's a recent case that backs up why the landowner is also liable:
