Economy 7 Users Help Needed Please

Hi
A friend has just moved into an all electric flat (storage heaters) this week - they've automatically gone on a standard tariff (I think) but in order to do a price comparison to change supplier she needs some usage figures to input.

The flat is two bedrooms and there'll only be my friend and her partner living there.

I would be extremely grateful if you could post your annual usage here and I can use that as an average to price up a new tariff for her (she's got no internet connected at the mo hence I'm doing it).

I've never used Economy 7 myself before so I have no idea what to input in terms of figures so your help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

When I had them they would use 2KW per hour, so 14 over the night.

1KW worked out at just over 5p, so about 75p per night per heater, or just over £100 per heater 5 months worth of heat.

That really is a 'how long is a piece of string' question.

By 'standard tariff' I assume you mean an Economy 7 tariff.

Your best bet is to enter, say, 15,000kWh pa and with 60% at cheap rate. You can play around with those figures altering the total and percentage and a clear picture of the best supplier will emerge.
  • Economy 7 here, in a 3 bed bungalow. Annual consumption about 9,000kWh of which almost 80% is on the Economy 7 rate. Hope that gives some kind of guide?
  • Stick in an annual spend of £1100, and use the default values, and you won't be too far out. All you're after really is the cheapest tariff, not an accurate prediction of your annual bill if you switch.
