New Windscreen

My Ford Fusion front heated windscreen only works on half of it. I am looking to replace the windscreen ready for winter. I have sent off for some quotes but has anyone had the same problem with a Ford and what have they done.

Thanks

Do you have windscreen cover on your insurance?
  • Yes I do, can I claim through that and pay the excess even though there's no physical damage to the screen?

Have you checked "closely" enough, you may have missed something. ;)

Yep there's always that nasty crack that you've always overlooked.

    Hi

I'm not sure about the fusion, but my focus has two fuses for the heated windscreen, one for each side. It might be worth checking them before you start looking at getting a new windscreen. I love my heated winscreen in winter, you sit in the car press the button and wait whilst watching the neighbours scraping away. :-)
  • Check the fuses and also check the wiring, 2 separate feeds/earths.

Not sure about claiming on the insurance, Dont forget it may cost you more in the excess and increased premiums.

  • It was around £400 for my Focus to have a new heated screen, back in 2003 ish, I didn't bother as the problem only affected part of the screen, ie it didn't clear properly but wasn't an MOT fail.

Surely its better to check the electrical connections first? They're at the base of the windscreen near the wiper motor assembly.

I know this because a colleague had his broken/cracked screen changed on his C-Max and they forgot to reconnect the wiring.
