DLA debacle

Of late i've been receiving DLA due to illness. Then in February this year thanks to medical treatment, i felt well enough to return to work.
I wrote to the DLA to tell them i was now well enough to return to work and thought i no longer met the criteria to receive it. I expected my DLA payments to stop.
I received no reply to my letter and the following month i received another DLA payment. I called them and they said they had received my letter and someone would call me back. No-one did.
The following month - same again. I received another payment, called them. They said they'd call me back and didn't.
By July this year, i'd probably called them about 6 or 7 times. Each time being told i'd be called back and it never happened.
Then in August they finally contacted by phone. I explained the situation and they confirmed they'd received my letter but had lost it and didn't have a record of what it said!!! They told me to send a copy, which i did and, as yet, i've heard nothing back.
I'm totally hacked off with this. I'm in the unusual position of fighting to get benefits STOPPED! Imagine how many people will not be as conscientious as me and just sit back receiving money they are not entitled to. The place is obviously a completely disorganised shambles.
disgrace

You can work and claim DLA.Of late i've been receiving DLA due to illness. Then in February this year thanks to medical treatment, i felt well enough to return to work.

You need to tell them you want a change of circumstances form.
I am the same in that I feel I no longer qualify for DLA. When I called I was advised to not cancel the claim but to fill out a change in circumstances form so that they can make the decision as to whether I still qualify.
They sent me the form which I filled out and sent back. I'm waiting for a decision and have been told that I won't need to repay any payments I receive between my informing them of a change in circumstance and them making a decision.
Phone calls are recorded so if you've got a record of when you call you can prove you've asked for a cancellation/reconsideration.
As Rogerblack said, being able to work is not a barrier to receiving DLA as it's not an out of work benefit therefore you may still qualify even though you're now working.0 -
I know you can receive DLA and still work. But I believe my circumstances are such that i shouldn't be receiving any. At the very least, my payments should be altered.
In 7 telephone conversations, no-one has once mentioned a Change of Circumstance form.
I don't see why i should call again. The ball is firmly in their court.0 -
send them a check for the over payment / and contact your bank asking them to stop payments to you0

send them a check for the over payment / and contact your bank asking them to stop payments to you
i`m sorry but thats rubbish, utter and total rubbish
you cant ask a bank to stop accepting payments to your account you can only request the payee stops making them
the op has contacted the dla people on numerous ocassions now and i would imagine any payments made if they werent payable were due to official error and NOT repayable
OP even though your condition has improved have your care/mobility needs changed?as mentioned above you can work and receive dla0
