you are entitled to carers allowance. it may have a slight affect as it is classed as income, but you should be receiving a premium on your CTC as your child is disabled.
  • Thanks For your quick reply, I do recieve the disability premium for Lewis but thought i was not entitled to carers allowance because i recieved tax credits.

Does anyone know how much it affects tax credits by?

    Thanks

i dont know if it affects tax credits or not to be honest, but the criteria for carers allowance is that the person receiving care needs to get middle or high DLA or AA, and the person claiming needs to care for a minimum of 35 hours per week and earning no more than £100 per week.

use the benefits calculator on entitedto to check.
  • Thanks fot that, ive put my details on but nothing for carers allowance comes up?I will ring tax credits in the morning to see what they say.

    Thanks

  • Your allowed to earn / have £6,420 yearly before your tax credits are reduced, as you are on minimum wage it will not have a big effect on your on-going tax credits as your yearly earnings and carers will no be much more than this amount.

Normally you would lose 41% of the carers allowance from your Tax Credits
