Hi All
My DS is potty training and doing extremely well......however he had 2 accidents yesterday in the car, he fell asleep when we were on a five minute journey, he must have been holding on for a while as when he fell asleep he wet himself so much that it went through his car seat onto the actual seat......I was away from home and so unable to tackle the problem....then just before our return journey home he climbed into the front to play with the steering wheel whilst I put DD in her seat, I was then going to put bedtime nappy on for journey home and yep you guessed it he did it again but on my seat!
Im at a complete loss as to how to tackle the problem and not end up with the car still smelling of urine.....
Any suggestions please????
Thx TF x

Have you got a piddle pad? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunshine-Kids-Seat-Waterproof-Protector/dp/B000R9YXWA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316956794&sr=8-1
Not sure how to solve him weeing on your seat though - have you been making him sit on the potty before you leave the house?:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Did he not go before you left on your journey? If in doubt I would sit him on a towel in his seat, but if he goes before you leave and then doesn't get much to drink he should last a short journey.Debt free as of July 2010 :j

Agree with skingypsy -wait to begin your journey until after they've been and then use a towel or cushion on their car seat just in case.
How far into potty training are you? If you are a few days in your child should be able to go a short journey out.
If you are just starting potty training don't go out!!0 -
Before you leave anywhere - get him to go to the toilet first.

Sorry OP, mrcow's got that wrong. Not 11 at all. Judging by my husband it's at least 58!

Childrens car seat cover's can usually be taken off & chucked in the wash, we have done this with a few different ones it can be a bit fiddly but well worth it as for the car. I'm not sure but there is some info here & here that might be useful, but if it's bad I'd be tempted to contact a local car valet place & see what they can do & for how much.Booo!!!0

Plastic bag on seat, with old folded towel over it for the child to sit on worked for us. And an enormous changing bag with about 5 changes of clothes for the next couple of months. When my DS was at this stage, I found that if he had one accident, he would almost "give up", and would have several more the same day, but then go days without an accident.
And for the smell, I would give the seat a scrub with biological washing powder solution, and use good old bicarb. If that doesn't work, pet shops sell stuff specifically for removing ammonia smells, which I used when a friend's child weed all over our sofa, and seemed to work.0
