Citi - Help Please

I have written to Citifinancial recently to find out some info regarding a loan I had before 2004. I was told to do this by a Citi employee on their helpline.

I received a letter yesterday advising that becuae I no longer have a loan with them they do not have to give me the information and therefore wont.

What should I do, should I just complain anyway and supply all my relevant details.

Please help !!!!!

Because of the date they may or may not still have the information.

However if you send a Subject Access Request (SAR), enclosing a £10 cheque they're required to send through what they have. You'll then know for sure if they have the loan details or not.

If you don't have the information and they don't have the information there isn't anything you can be done, as there's no way of proving what you paid.

After sending the SAR they have 40 days (plus postage time) to send through the information. If they fail to send you anything and they don't give you a reasonable explaination as to why they can't respond, you can then complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you have details of the loan (especially the loan number) you can complain. You may want to photocopy what you have and send the paperwork with the complaint so the bank can locate your details.
