Hello all, some advice please.
I very occasionally sell the odd thing on ebay usually with local pick up. Been using ebay for years never had an issue.
I listed a few bulky kids items for collection by today (sunday).
This was clearly noted in the listing along with cash on collection.
The buyer wants to pick up tomorrow (monday) and has paid by paypal.
They are "over this way" tomorrow so its convenient for them.
Unfortunately due to work i can only allow week end pick up so its of no use to me.....which is why i listed as collect by Sunday latest.
I can offer them the opportunity to pick up next week end but i suspect they wont like that.
What other options do i have ?
Any pointers appreciated.

Collection whilst really convenient for us sellers can be a bit of a minefield, you actually have several issues as I'm sure you appreciate.
1) the paypal on collection scam- although realistically this is unlikely especially as buyer is delaying collection. I assume the item is low end cost wise?
2) non collection- when did the auction end ? If it was a while ago then yes buyer is being a bit unreasonable , but if it is only in the past couple of days then just phone buyer and ask that they collect next weekend instead.
3) if buyer declines to collect at a weekend then all you can do is refund and hope they will walk away from the transaction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I don't think its a scam its a low item - well three bulky items actually sold for a total of £10.
It ended yesterday. In the past where i have sold something i always put collection at the week end, this is no exception and it was in the listing.
As i say, never been a problem before but first time for everything i guess.
I suspect the real issue is that it would cost them that in petrol to collect, (probably more) and hence want to do it while over this way.
i.e. its convenient for them but not for me. I can and will offer collection next week end and see where that goes.
Thanks for the response.0 -
I agree, I certainly wouldn't worry too much about the paypal scam for a £10 item I had a collection item myself a while ago for about that where the buyer paid using paypal and frankly It wasn't worth worrying about.
Yes, just remind them that as clearly stated on your auction terms the item is available for collection weekends only. They might decline to collect of course, but worry about that if it happens. It is always worth phoning the buyer rather than emailing them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Possibly, but i really wouldn't want to bother a neighbour with this.
Especially as the items are all quite bulky.0 -
Can you just leave beside the front door, wrapped in plastic? For the value involved, probably the least worst outcome. I've left garden stuff out for collection before and it's worked OK.0

A buyer asked me to do that once- I can only assume they were not a native Londoner as if so they would realise that even leaving a hanging basket out over the summer invites it being stolen.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not a bad thought, especially as its quiet and fairly secluded here
but i would still be concerned that they might go missing.
i just wish people would not bid on things unless they can accept the terms of purchase. i certainly wouldn't.
OK, that's a bit naive0
