Child Tax Credit Enquiry?

Has anyone else had one of these? I had one yesterday and am a tad worried they are accusing me of being a fraud! I have to send in lots of paperwork too.

I just wondered if these are randomly chosen (it says they are in the letter) or if I am being singled out and accused of something.

This could be to do with self-employment, childcare costs, DLA or claiming as a single person whilst living with someone.
They do investigate a proportion of claims and you need to supply the documents they've asked for.

What have they asked you to send in?

Don't worry about it - I got one a few years ago and it was worded as if to say I'd committed fraud - it said something like your declaration was wrong and we are going to change your "finalised" claim from last year unless we hear from you in 3 weeks. I wrote to them with evidence my claim was right and they wrote back an apologetic letter closing the enquiry and thanking me for my assistance.

Assuming you haven't lied to them you'll be fine, just provide all the evidence you think they might need concerning the aspect they're making the enquiry about, even if they didn't ask for it.

Thank you, it is regarding childcare costs that I have been paying to a childminder. Hopefully it will be easily closed then, thank you.
