Changing Line Rental from BT to Post Office?

Hi, Just looking for some advice. I've been with BT for decades and I'm on the "Unlimited evening/weekend plan" at £16.90 per month. They're giving me a discount of £3 per month for some reason!
Anyway, my bills are generally tiny and will be even less now that I have a contract mobile. My last bill worked out at £23.12 for 3 month of calls.
I was looking at the Post Office offer "PO Home Phone" at £12.25 per month. Free calls also, inlcluding mobiles from what I can make out.
Is it worth me changing and has anyone else? Can you keep your number and is it quite hassle free?
Many thanks

The discount is probably because you're on a renewable contract for your calls plan.
Post Office Home Phone gives:- inclusive evening and weekend calls - to 01/02/03/0845 and 0870 numbers
- inclusive weekend calls - to UK mobiles and to 40 specific international destinations
- inclusive calls anytime - to other Home Phone customers
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
