Is USWITCH.COM accurate?

Has anyone switched energy suppliers using uswitch.com? Currently I'm supplied by my local energy supplier who are EDF energy. I am trying to cut my bills so looked at the uswitch site. Aparently if I switch to N-Power, I can sav £160 a year.. Is this too good to be true?? I am a dual fuel customer BTW.

Why don't you simply check the unit prices for yourself at npowers website and compare them with what you are paying now? ukpower is a much more reputable site than uswitch but check the prices for yourself! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I spent a great part of yesterday using sites like this, and none of them were accurate nor what I would call reputable.
Having several tabs open, and entering the same information into several sites I found they did not agree. Visiting the supplier sites, and doing the math for myself I found none of the price comparison sites were accurate.
The reason is simple, they get paid commission if you sign up through them, so they show the supplier that pays the highest commission as the best supplier for you.
Very few of the sites I tried actually showed the cheapest EBICo (EQUIGAS and EQUIPOWER) and the reason is EBICo don't pay commission to these sites. And none of them had it at the top where it should have been. Mostly it was near the bottom, and where the commission paying suppliers all had five starts for customer service EBICo had two stars.
I continually got directed to N-Power as the best supplier for my electricity, but with them my 750 KWh per year would cost £144.24
With Ebic it would only cost £75.37
OK, N-Power give a £20 discount per year if you pay by DD, but even with that it doen't take much to see where I would be better off.
All the sites came up with N-Power as the best supplier for me, but didn't mention that they get paid if I sign up to N-Power through them.
The best thing to do is visit the supplier sites and compare tarriffs for your self. Take into account any discounts and work it out.0 -

I hadn't, but I've just tried it, giving my electricity details and it brought up EBICo top of the list.
Can't apply for EBICo through the site, or even go to it, but at least it was honest and told me the best supplier for me.
The odd thing is, it says the second best supplier is British Gas - Green Tariff. Even tho my current supplier is BG Standard Tariff.
I haven't done the calculations, but all the other sites put BG at the bottom of the list.
The figures from some of the other suppliers look about right, based on my calculations the other day.
After just one use I would say that Energylinx is the best energy comparison site I've ever used.0
