Flickering screen on netbook

Lately my netbook has had this problem where sometimes the white areas of the screen - like this box I'm typing in - will flicker to a shade of turquoise and back again. Not every day, even, but now and again when I'm trying to browse or watch a film.
The netbook is a generic Advent model which I've used for 2-and-a-half years now with few problems.
