well after 9 months (yes i did say 9!!) i have heard about my dla.. i have been awarded middle care and higher mobility.... i also get IB and hubby works 24hrs a week for a low wage... we have a child of 9

will this affect my council tax benefit and WFTC and CTC... does it count as earnings etc or do i get a higher allowance or something?
is there anything else i am entitled to now i get this??
i read in another thread a while back about a card to prove DLA will i need this for things like dartford tunnel, to prove exemption from road tax etc?
anything else i need to know or claim?
oh and dont laugh but i am about to get almost £3000 in back benefit is this going to cause problems with other things regarding capital limits??

road tax exemption for your vehicle. Ring up the number shown on your DLA award letter to request application form (one should have been enclosed with your award notification, just a one page tear off piece). You then send it bacl to DWP who in turn send you back a certificate which you take along to your local DVLA along with your MOT, Insurance etc (just as if you were renewing tax disc). The DVLA will backdate a refund of any road tax you have paid from the date which DLA was awarded.Integrity is a dying art!:p0

You will most definitely still get your council tax rebate since you are entitled to that with your DLA alone.
I got my CTB on DLA and IS.0 -

The DWP will take a long time to get back to you - mine took 8 weeks!
Also, the tax is not backdated at all. Your refund, which takes about 6 weeks, is only from the day you present yourself to the DVLA local office. I just did mine last week. They refused to backdate my refund to September when I was awarded my DLA - said it had to be from the end of that calendar month of application - I applied on Tuesday 9th January and I will be refunded from Feb - June this year. I also explained that it took DWP 8 weeks to send me the form to take to the DVLA, but this cut no ice, either.
Hope this helps.0 -

You dont automatically receive council tax benefit because you receive DLA. You will receive it as you are on Income Support, not because of the DLA.
Send off for your free car tax and when going through Dartford Tunnel etc, just show them your tax disc and you will be exempt from paying.
Well done on getting there in the end.

It is not the rule of thumb granted but I managed it by being a real pest. They initially said no and gave me the same response as yourself but I wrote a formal letter and (almost a month later) got a very basic one paragraph letter back stating that they had reviewed had given circumstances etc etc.
I think anything that you feel is fair, is worth kicking up a fuss about. Trouble is, most of us aren't aware that it's even possible as we tend to naturally accept at face value what we are told by someone behind a counter. I'm not saying it will always work, but in our case it did so I say have a go for the price of a stamp.Integrity is a dying art!:p0
