Dentist trouble

My partner is having a bit of trouble with her dentist.
She needs a crown and although on maternity leave the dentist is charging £375.
The problem however is that the dentist has botched the procedure 3 times now. So far this has involved 7 trips to them to take impressions and attempt to fit the crowns. However, each time the crown hasn't fit and the temporary one has broken once.
I certainly know that mistakes can be made but to be on the fourth attempt is unbelievable !!!
The dentist has offered £50 off, but neither of us believe that this is sufficient. As well as 7 trips there ( 6 miles each way ), we also have an eight month old baby who we we have had to arrange care for on most occasions.
Can anyone give me any advice on where we stand here and how to go about disputing the costs ?
Thanks in advance
Andy

With regards to the maternity leave. She has asked for porcelain white crown and was told that this was a cosmetic choice and therefore would be charged full price.
Is this correct ?0 -

Yes. If you choose an option that is not available on the NHS you have to pay privately.
It's the same if you choose white fillings instead of the NHS fillings you pay the private cost.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

White fillings on front teeth or on non biting surfaces of back teeth are available on the nhs. Very very small White fillings on biting surfaces of back teeth also may be. No dentist would do large White fillings on back teeth on the nhs, as they are so time consuming to do they would be better off handing you £20 to go elsewhere.0
